mustard seed writing hour with candice iloh & elisabet velasquez

Elisabet Velazquez and I began the year talking about our goals for our writing practice. One of those was to write in community, to write more.

bell hooks tells us, writers that we must write against time - what does that look like for writers whose ancestors were colonized in a time where we are actively witnessing genocide in Palestine.

A world that keeps us busy, produces anxiety, and makes us believe that we are alone, in our thoughts, and in our writing practice.

We created this space to take back our time, where for an hour we reflect, and engage with our thoughts and feelings without distractions.

We opened capacity this month to invite more writers in this space with us. May writing our truths and stories heal us and tell the truth about the world around us.

This space is open to all writers, writing in any genre. It is a low stakes session. Which means, there is no prompt. There is no lesson. This space is for those of us who need the accountability of community. You are welcome to begin the next great novel, play, poem or movie script, but you are also welcome to you use this hour simply to write in your journal or to write letters to your representatives or to unearth some truth that has been buried in you for too long - we invite you.

WRITE WITH US BY RSVP'ing HERE.

…or join us the day of on IG live.
